You can’t spend more than a few hours watching late-night TV without being bombarded by infomercials for inversion tables.
And since the only thing that sends people to the doctor more than lower back pain is the common cold, chances are that you’ve been enticed by the idea of using traction therapy to decrease, or completely eliminate, that never-ending pain in your back.
The major problem with buying a health or cardio product which is being drilled into your head by infomercials, though, is that it’s hard to know whether the product is really any good – or just advertised a lot. That’s why a list of the top 5 best inversion table reviews can come in handy. We happen to have one right here.
1. Ironman Gravity 4000 Inversion Table
No products found. No, the top-ranked entry on our list is not the expensive one that bombards you with ads. The Ironman Gravity 4000 is a much more reasonably-priced table and has been a top-seller for many years. It does almost all that the big name competitor does but without the bells and whistles. Ironman is well-known for its high-quality exercise equipment, and the Gravity inversion table features the same sturdy construction, making it heavy but durable. Its wide U-shaped steel frame and rubber non-skid stabilizers make sure that the table isn’t going anywhere it shouldn’t, while comfortably (using a lumbar pillow and memory foam that’s 2 ½ inches thick) supporting anyone who isn’t grossly obese.
Surprisingly, there are only three different inversion positions on the Gravity 4000. They still allow you to determine the degree of inversion you desire, though, maximizing the effects of gravity to relieve the pressure on your discs and ligaments, and promoting optimal blood circulation. Vinyl safety covers reinforced stitching and cushioned, molded ankle locks give you the “completely safe” feeling you need when putting your body in what may seem like an unnatural position.
The Ironman doesn’t have some of the “extras” of the next model on our list, such as a bed design, pre-set rotation control or customizable functions. But you’re not paying for those extras either, making this inversion table functional, more affordable, and our top choice.

2. Teeter Hang Ups EP 560 Inversion Table
Ah, here it is – the king of late night, at least when it comes to inversion tables. Actually, we’re not listing the most expensive Teeter model on our rankings because the EP 560 model does everything most people need, with most of the same features, at about half the price of the higher model. (The EP 560 is the company’s most popular, probably because of its more-approachable price.) And if you’ve been wondering, Teeter isn’t a fly-by-night infomercial company; they’ve been making quality inversion tables since the 1980s.
The Teeter Hang Ups EP 560 is unquestionably solid, made from strong, heat-treated carbon steel with a lot of construction extras like specially-made pivot bearings which won’t squeak and automatically-locking hinges. And it has all of the design characteristics you hear about on TV, most notably the ComforTrak bed design which flexes along with your body movement while lowering friction and increasing comfort. The bed has eight adjustable acupressure nodes for massage and an adjustable lumbar bridge. It also has grip-and-stretch handholds which let you extend your body even more while inverted, pre-set inversion control to choose degrees of inversion in advance, and the ability to add on accessories like the Teeter vibration cushion and EZ-Up gravity boots.
Safety is assured with the locking hinges we’ve mentioned, along with an innovative ankle cup design and an adjustable strap system. The Teeter Hang Ups unit is one of the easiest inversion tables to fold and store, if desired. It accommodates everyone from 4’8” to 6’8” in height, and one other plus is that it arrives almost fully-assembled. For a high-quality inversion table, the EP 560 is priced quite reasonably. If you know that you’re going to be using it a lot, or for many years, we feel the extra features are probably worth the extra investment.

3. Health Mark Pro Max Inversion Therapy Table
If price is no object and you’re looking for an alternative to the most-expensive Teeter Hang Ups models (the ones we didn’t review, because the EP 560 is a better buy at a lower price), the Health Mark Pro Max is the unit to check out. It is vastly more expensive than any other inversion table on our list – but that’s because it was originally created for use in professional therapy centers and has the extra features to match.
First of all, this table is one of the only non-motorized units you can buy for the home which will let you position yourself either face-down or face-up; the face-down position allows you to have a massage therapist do his or her work while you’re inverted. It’s also designed to accommodate everyone except the winner of the Guinness award for “world’s heaviest man,” since it can handle weight up to 600 pounds. That means the construction is as sturdy as you’ll ever see, with a heavy gauge steel frame that can’t be folded down. This puppy isn’t going anywhere (but will take you a while to assemble).
There are six different pre-sets for inversion angle on the Pro Max which range all the way up to 180 degrees, and it’s designed for comfort with foam back supports, a cushy head/face rest, soft thigh and knee support, comfortable rear and front ankle brackets, and 25 different height settings up to 6’6”. This table is way more than most people need for quick inversion sessions, but if nothing but the best will do (or you’re excited about the possibility of inversion massage), it’s a luxury that’s one-of-a-kind.

4. Body Champ IT8070 Inversion Therapy Table
No products found. You don’t need to spend a fortune for an inversion therapy table which will do the job well, and the lightweight Body Champ IT8070 is proof. It is relatively cheap but can relieve the pressure on your spinal cord, discs, ligaments, and nerves in just a short session each day.
The angle of the Body Champ’s inversion is adjustable with a dual-pin system, allowing you to start out slowly and increase the effects of gravity over time as you get more used to the process, all the way up to 180 degrees if you desire. U-shaped handrails, safety straps, and locks, foam rollers for ankle comfort and easy ankle adjustments give you most of the comfort and peace of mind you need while using this unit; the only basic thing missing is more padding for the table itself. Since this is a relatively light table, it folds up easily but can’t support as much weight (250 pounds) as the products higher on our list. Otherwise, it’s a great buy.

5. Exerpeutic Inversion Table with Comfort Foam Backrest
The Exerpeutic is very similar to the Body Champ: solid, functional, similarly-priced. We don’t think you couldn’t go wrong with either choice as a budget inversion table. The balanced, square steel frame of this unit makes it solid enough to support your weight (and it can support more than the Body Champ), but it’s still easy to fold up and put away when not in use. A slightly-padded table and foam ankle-cushion rollers make the unit comfortable enough for short sessions, and extra-long safety handles and ankle straps hold you in place as you let gravity work its magic.
The angle of inversion is controlled by a tether strap, not the most elegant or customizable way to manage this important function, but it works well enough to serve the purpose. The Exerpeutic probably isn’t the solution for patients with serious back issues who need extensive and long-term gravity therapy. But for ten minutes a day to work out the kinks in your back, it’s just fine – particularly for only about a hundred bucks.
